Overview

jesse.blog is owned and operated by Twelve28, LLC, a Rhode Island limited liability company. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. We collect only the minimum personal data necessary to operate this site and provide requested services. Information We Collect

This site collects information in a few different ways depending on how you interact with it.

If you simply browse the site, analytics data is collected automatically through Google Analytics and Jetpack/WordPress Stats. This includes your IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent on the site, and general geographic location. This data is aggregated and used only to understand how people find and read content here.

If you leave a comment, WordPress collects your name, email address, and any information you include in your comment. Your name and comment will be visible publicly; your email will not.

If you sign up for the email newsletter, we collect your name and email address to send you new posts and occasional updates. This is managed through MailPoet, a WordPress plugin. MailPoet has its own privacy policy that governs how subscriber data is handled on their infrastructure.

If you subscribe to the physical mail service, we collect your full name and mailing address in order to send printed essays to you by post. This information is used solely for that purpose and is not shared with any third parties beyond what is necessary to fulfill delivery.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For visitors in the European Union or United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases. We process analytics data on the basis of legitimate interest, as understanding how our content is consumed helps us improve the site. We process newsletter and physical mail subscription data on the basis of consent, which you provide when you sign up. You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us at jesse@twelve28.biz.

International Data Transfers

This site uses third-party services — including Google Analytics, Jetpack, MailPoet, and YouTube — that may store or process your data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. These transfers occur in connection with the normal operation of those services. Each provider maintains its own data processing agreements and privacy safeguards. Twelve28, LLC is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services, and we encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

Cookies and Do Not Track

This site uses cookies primarily through Google Analytics and WordPress functionality. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some site features may not function as expected if you do. This site does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals.

Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security and are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to this site, please contact us at jesse@twelve28.biz and we will promptly delete it.

Your Rights

EU and UK residents (GDPR) have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

U.S. state residents — including those in California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, and Utah — may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws, including the right to know what data is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of any sale of personal data. Regardless of where you live, you may request deletion of any data we hold about you — including your email address, mailing address, or comments — and we will respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

Newsletter and mailing list subscriber data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. Physical mail subscriber data is deleted upon cancellation, except where retention is required for accounting or legal compliance. Comment data is retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. Analytics data is retained according to the policies of Google Analytics and Jetpack respectively.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify email subscribers directly.
