In browsing Reddit I found this awesome drawing done with a simple Micron pen by Camtron Art. Zoomed in – seen above – it looks like a few simple lines, and dots. Nothing extraordinary, nothing that seems to require a great deal of talent.

This is not too different than the habits or small tasks that we can perform every day to better ourselves. The smallest actions performed frequently and consistently can eventually move mountains.

Assign yourself the tasks that will eventually reap benefits that are greater than the sum of their actions. If you smoke, assign yourself the action of going to bed with one less cigarette stubbed out in the ashtray. If you smoke a pack a day, you’ll reduce your cigarette count by 5%. Over a period of a year that’s 365 fewer cigarettes, 19 fewer packs, and 126 more dollars in your pocket, each year. This is a small action that may feel like it reaps a small benefit. However, if you can do this, you will have proven to yourself that you can reduce your cigarettes which is empowering!

Just like drawing this gorgeous map, you can’t tell what it is nor can you appreciate it’s innovative beauty without zooming out and seeing the whole picture. Limiting yourself once, is equivilant to drawing a small square house, or a curly tree, or a few dots that may not add much context at all.

Eventually, over time, you’ll have created enough little lines and dots that you have a full and gorgeous map.
